Lessons from the AD with Ross Novie – Just Shoot It 66

In this episode we talk with Ross Novie, who apart from being a director in his own right, is the First AD on a number of shows including Season 1 of Entourage, Arrested Development, The Office and is now on a show called Those Who Can’t where he will be directing an episode himself. He has worked with a lot of really well known comedy directors where he has gleaned a lot of really fantastic information about how to direct television shows.

Ross is big into optimizing of information processing, a big fan of Timothy Ferris, so any of his books such as the 4 Hour Work Week.

The 5 Minute Journal, also a Timothy Ferris concept from his books, is like meditation for those that can’t do/don’t like that sort of thing.

A movie called Weiner, a documentary about Anthony Weiner’s mayoral campaign. They think they are filming his comeback tour, but he has such a penchant for self destruction that by the end of the movie there are these to-the-camera type confessionals from him.
